How a SISU cushion is made

A SISU cushion being made

So glad you're here, let's talk you through the process.

Every cushion starts with sourcing: hunting through what's available and picking out the best fabric.

Once we have a roll, we do the maths, how many covers it will give us, and where the pattern should fall on each one.

Then a backing fabric is chosen that complements the front, every seam is overlocked to hold up to years of everyday use, and each cushion is finished with a concealed zip and a contrast trim.

Inside, we use a duck feather insert that's deliberately larger than the cover. That's the difference between a cushion that looks plump and inviting, and one that looks deflated from day one.

All of this happens in small batches, here in our Amsterdam studio.
